Boredom: What to do when you're bored

Introducing the Abe Quotation sub-forum We've been noticing more and more members enjoying and sharing Abraham's words of wisdom in many different forms. The momentum of such generous sharing has caught our attention so we've created a place here on the forum to assemble such gems "under one roof," so to speak.

Boredom: What to do when you're bored

-

Boredom is NOT the absence of desire

if you ever get to a place where you have not desire, you'll cease to be.

Don't worry, it can't happen!

You could pinch yourself off from it here and croak,
but you'd re-emerge back into the Nonphysical
where your wanting is sublime and eternal.
And you would re-emerge back into the physical very fast,
because wanting is your most natural thing.

- Abraham

-

Boredom is resistance causing lack of momentum

If your desire and resistance stay equal: "I want it but, I want it but..." Then you never allow the momentum to get going, and then it can be called indifference.

[...]There will be no lull unless you introduce resistance into the equation and slow it down [...]

This is the way we would describe this lull:
"I want it, but..." "I would like to have this, BUT these are the reasons that I don't".
And so a desire like that, that never really gets any momentum going, that really is a good way to describe indifference.
"I want it but.. I want it but.."

[...] Sometimes people [...] are afraid to let yourself really want. Because you're afraid that if you really want, it will really be uncomfortable, so you hold your desire as best you can at bay. But you're not holding it at bay [...], you're just keeping up with it with equal resistance. Cut it out!

[...] So you're as good at arguing for why it won't work as you are for arguing about something that you want. And after a while you get tired of what feels like a steady struggle. And then you start again with something else and follow the same pattern.

[...] If you just stop doing that thing you do, and if you don't talk yourself out of it [...] and you don't keep taking other people's ideas, you let it gather the momentum that it naturally will and you let your inner being show you the fullness of it, your inner being will call you, and that is far, far from indifference.

[...] So then, when you feel it [the indifference], say to yourself: "Wait a minute, this is a something that I want, and these are the reasons that I want it!
-And begin noting the positive aspects of what you want. Begin scripting a little bit to hold yourself in steadier vibrational alignment with your own desire.

Boredom is the absense of momentum & focus

if you're not consistent in your positive self-talk, or your positive expectation about it, then you're missing the momentum.

And that's what you would describe as, - you said some fear and trepidation - but mostly what you meant was
"I'm not all that jazzed about what's in my Vortex",
or "I don't feel that enthusiasm for things. I'm not waking up eager to get out of bed and bound into action about it."

(...)

while your Vortex and your IB and what you've created are moving fast and high flying with the potential for you of so much exhilaration and so much passion and so much zest for life, because of your inconsistent connection with it [with your Inner Being], you're just not feeling it.

And in fact (...) the faster the momentum of your Vortex, the more you will feel its opposite if you're not with it, because it's that relation thing.

- Abraham

-

Q:
How do I align with Source more?

Abraham:
By letting yourself want more things.
By finding more objects of attention to which that energy can flow.

-

Boredom is: not being tuned in to your inner being / true self

Elation and exhilaration and passion -
that always means that you're TITITO
and that in your focus you are discovering new thoughts along the way.
It's always that new ground-breaking into new places that gives you that feeling of exhilaration.

-

Boredom is: not keeping up with your Inner Being

Sometimes that feeling of not moving fast is because you're moving with your IB, so the relationship of that doesn't feel fast.

Sometimes the feeling of not moving fast is because you are really having opposing thought about the things that you want and you're gonna have to figure it out as you go about which you're doing.

-

Boredom is the absense of inspiration

That feeling of paralysis, that feeling of "I should be doing something,
that I either don't want to do -or I don't know what to do",
that feeling of paralysis, let´s just call it like it is -
is just the absence of inspiration!

Boredom is not allowing yourself to flow towards a desire

[Boredom is when] You're trying to summon it [desire / energy flow], but not letting it through.
- Abe

-

What goes wrong for many people,
is that they summon more Energy [of desires] than they have learned how to allow,
or they don't summon Energy [so that they don't even think of the desire...].

For the most part, you're summoning more Energy than you can allow,
[but then] (...) you're afraid to summon [the manifestation], so you're bored.

(Analogy of what boredom is like)

[If] you were going to shoot something far far far out into space-
but so far, the rocket hasn't been launched.
So, it's just sitting there- in a resistant state!

Iow, it wants to go,
but they got it all strapped down.
And so it looks like it's going to tear the whole launchpad up if somebody won't cut it loose and let it GO-

And THAT's what we want you to focus on, here!
This momentum that feels like a downward-spiral, is NOT a downward-spiral.
It's an upward-spiral that you are not flowing with yet.
That's all that it is.

What to do to get out of boredom? Focus your thoughts more deilberately

When you wake up in the morning and you haven't yet begun the negative self-talk or whatever,
so you've allowed your cork to float into that positive energy, you begin in the energy of your IB.
And as you then direct your attention to the things that matter to you - not to the opposition - but to those things that matter to you,
now you begin that conscious feeling of momentum.

- AH

Start with some thought that doesn´t have much resistance attached to it already, and you just concentrate on THAT thought!

Because a thought that is not contradicted,
WILL gather it´s own momentum.

Once you cross the approximately 1-minute-mark,
this [momentum] WILL GET MOVING.

- Abraham

-

Don't feed negative thoughts & talk that keeps you stuck

Never talk in opposition to what you want -
That's a sure-fire thing to slow you down so that you don't relate to your own momentum.

(...)

Talk more about what you want and far less about what you don't want.

(...)

Our work today was to convince you, that you can separate what seems like real, from what feels SATISFYING.

And if it´s not satisfying- even though it might be real, try NOT TO THINK ABOUT IT!

Even though it seems real, if it´s not satisfying:
Try not to think about it.
Even if it might be real, if it´s not satisfying,
try not to think about it.

HS:
(...) I find myself resisting the impulse [to do anything]!

Abe:
And here is why! (...)

When you were standing in the "old world" [pre-Abraham], that said:
JUST DO SOMETHING!
Just do something, to get the juices started. Just do it, anyway.
Push through! Persevere. Be diligent! Use your effort! BUCK UP!
MAKE it happen.

But those tactics don´t work for you, anymore [with the awareness of Abraham]
Because you are standing too much in the other world [of awareness of doing things only if they feel good].

(...) This feeling of paralyzation is speaking of these 2 concepts:
[1.] The concept of MOTIVATION,
[2.] and the concept of INSPIRATION.

(...) You could say to yourself:
"I could allow momentum to increase in either of these concepts!"

- [1. INCREASING MOTIVATION - PUSH FACTORS] -

So let´s increase momentum on the concept of motivation,
which is making yourself do something- because you just NEED to.

So, you don´t feel like acting, so you don´t.
You don´t feel like acting, so you don´t.
And you don´t feel like acting, so you don´t.

And you don´t do anything to feel better,
you are just riding in the what-you-should-be-doing,
and what-you-don´t-feel-like-doing-

so you don´t feel like doing it, and you don´t, and
you don´t feel like doing it, and you don´t, and
you don´t feel like doing it, and you don´t,
and
you focus upon what you should be doing, and you´re not doing it...
And you're FOCUSING [all this while on this situation you don't want]
and therefore your momentum is getting bigger
and bigger and bigger and bigger
until [possibly] a crisis ensues that just FORCES you to do something about it.

It´s sort of [like]-
you don´t feel like paying the bills,
you don´t feel like paying the bills,
you don´t feel like paying the bills,
but after they turn the lights out [=crisis-pooint] - THEN you feel like paying the bills.
There´s just something sort of MOTIVATING about the lights being turned out!

So, THAT is the way you allow momentum, on the subject of motivation.

- [2. INCREASING INSPIRATION - PULL FACTORS] -

But what if your desire is
to allow LoA and momentum to increase from the INSPIRATION-side of the equation?

[To do this,] you start with something SIMPLE and EASY.
And you just rest with it
until it becomes a little more, and a little more,
and a little more, and it becomes a little more, and it becomes a little more,
and it becomes a little more-
until you feel the inspiration TO MOVE.

(...)

Because most of you- we love you so much- but as much as you heard from us-
you still have one foot pretty solidly set, in that world of action, In that world of motivation. (...)

When you feel paralyzed, we´re NOT encouraging you to take action!

We´re encouraging you to understand:
You´re on the wrong PARADIGM [of thought / focus / attention].
You´re on the wrong track [of thought / focus / attention].

Because whatever you are focused upon WILL get bigger and bigger and bigger
and bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger and BIGGER-
And don´t you want to create from the INSIDE out?
[ie do something because you want to, not because external situations force you to do them]
Don´t you want the inspiration to come from your FULL on, inspired version,
of Source flowing through you?

(HS argues that he has not the faith to do that.)

Abe:
(...) It´s accurate to say, you can´t get there from there.
No, really you CAN get anywhere from anywhere!
BUT NOT WITHOUT slumber!
Not without pushing the reset-button!
Not without a paradigm-shift [of thought / focus / vibration] within yourself!

Have you heard about paradigm-shifts, where larger parts of consciousness
begin to feel a perception of life in a different way?
Well, it´s really individuals doing it!
And you don´t have to wait for anybody else to do it!

You have the option, right here and now-
and in any right here, and in any right now-
of focusing on a condition that BINDS you up,
OR
focusing on the absence of conditions, which FREES you up.

And that´s the whole point of meditation!
The whole point of meditation is to clear your mind of thought,
that binds you.
And THEN begin with thoughts that don´t bind you,
understanding that LoA will apply to them (...)
and that WILL GET THE INSPIRATION MOVING.

-

Don't try hard to make it happen.
Don't you be the motivator to LOA.
Let LOA do what LOA does
and you just dove-tail as best you can, as often as you can, with the feeling that your IB has about what you want.

What to do to get out of boredom: Do a rampage of appreciation for the joy of Desire to ramp up desires

If you just stop doing that thing you do, and if you don't talk yourself out of it [...] and you don't keep taking other people's ideas, you let it gather the momentum that it naturally will and you let your inner being show you the fullness of it, your inner being will call you, and that is far, far from indifference.

Oh, to have desire and get it out there,
and know that it will be fulfilled,
and the Energy flowing through you!

And then, another desire that you get out there
and you want it to be fulfilled,
and the Energy flows through you.

The passion, the eternal passion that flows through you,
eon after eon after eon.

(...)

You're constantly refiguring.

Constantly making new decisions.
Making a new decision, finding a new desire,
and feeling the freshness of the desire.

When you don't know what to do...

Esther says to us:
"Abraham, what do you think I should do about this?"
And we say, we think you should do WHAT FEELS BEST TO YOU!
And Esther said: "I am SO TIRED of hearing that from you!"
We think you should do what feels BEST to you.
We think you should do feels best to YOU- every time.
We think you should do what FEELS best to you!

Example of Esther getting out of boredom & stuckness through Pinterest

(Abe tell the story about Esther, not wanting to do ANYTHING, not even driving
her beloved little car. She felt in a total funk, and also felt needing to do so much.)

(Esther said) ...There MUST be something I would be interested in!
I KNOW there is something in this world that I could be interested about!

-And then, the word "Pinterest" came into her mind.

Pinterest, and Interest.

Now, Tracy has been after her to look at Pinterest.
Tracy sends her things from Pinterest all the time.
Esther thinks, she wouldn´t ever want to look at Pinterest because she did
NOT want to be distracted from the things she NEEDED to do!

Esther´s been saying for a very long time:
"I have SO much to do. I don´t need any of these frivolous hobbies.
In fact, every time Tracy is on Pinterest, Esther thinks she should be
doing something more PRODUCTIVE.

So, Esther had herself in a real box,
because there was nothing that she WANTED to do.
There were only things that she thought she SHOULD do!
-And she didn´t want to do anything she thought she should do...

Pinterest is in her mind. Hm.
So she downloaded the app. (...)
And then there was a search-bar, and she thought "Hmm. I wonder what I could look at!"

And then, it showed her some options.
And then she clicked on a recipe. Ohh, that really looked good!
And then, she pinned it. And then, she labeled it. And then it showed her
a whole bunch MORE of those same things.
It´s like LoA in Pinterest!

And then, Esther thought, anything I could think about!!
And then she thought "Oh, I´m looking for some art for my Spencer-house.
So she looked up art. Renaissance. And all this stuff came up!
And all of this artists! She started clicking. 3 hrs later, Esther had pinned
not fewer than a thousand things.
(...)

Her juices were FLOWING!

And then, then she just got the best idea.
She was looking through all of all these classical pictures,
not realizing that she really didn´t know who many of this artists were,
and she focused on the artist of Monet- and saw this still-picture of these flowers,
and Esther though "Whoo, I´m gonna take THIS picture down to my company that makes flower arrangements for me,
and I´m gonna have me made THAT flower arrangement, that one, right there.

And THEN, she couldn´t get into her car fast enough!

ALL it takes is a little priming of the pump.

All it takes is, first of all knowing that momentum will carry you!
And giving yourself the chance to do it!

Just MAKING THE DECISION: you don´t wanna be in a funk.

Instead of putting your focus on stuckness & thoughts & things that dont feel good, put your focus on things like this:

Start loving
and humming
and skipping
and listening
and soothing
and meditating
and basking
and soaking in the hot tub
and laying on the beach
and eating where you like to eat
and loving and complimenting and basking
and looking for reasons to feel good
and remembering good times
and looking through the photo album
and pulling out pictures that feel good to you
and sticking them in places where you'll see them often
and reading your love letters
and writing love letters
and remembering people who loved you
and remembering compliments
and looking for reasons to feel good
and petting your cat
and looking at flowers
and walking in gardens
and looking at the sky
and looking at the sunset
and basking over the rainbows,

and then repeat all of that over
and over and over and over and over.

There's not one blasted thing for any of you to do but get happy now. That's it.
Find a reason to be happy.
And oh, what a spot you live in to be happy.
There is so much good stuff around you. So much."
