Meditation 30 day challenge
Hi all!
I'm starting this thread because I feel it would help me stick to a goal which is extremely beneficial for me - regular 15 minute sound meditations.
Feel free to join in with your own goals!
My goal: 3 x 15 minutes sound meditations each day for 30 days
A few points about this for me:
1) Although Abraham doesn't talk about 'quieting your mind' often at all in the books, there is this wonderful video :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fchZ1ioTBDQ
Where Abraham states " Meditate to quiet your mind, not activate your mind. Don't activate your mind, unless you know for sure, you're flying high!'
2) In my experience over the last couple of years I've found that quieting my mind is the absolute best foundation for me - when this is going well I'm able to apply the other Hicks processes really well. On the flipside - when my mind is very fast and negative momentum has built up, attempting many Hicks processes leads to more tension.
3) I've found great value recently in 'getting a little help' e.g. I've been trying running for years with little success, now I'm following the Couch to 5k App I'm progressing really well - just from that little help to focus. This thread is intended to be a bit like that for keeping consistent on meditation.
4) I find it really interesting that in 'Ask and it is Given', meditation is the only process which is appropriate for the whole emotional scale, so it's never a bad idea
5) I really adore the Abraham advice that '15 minutes is enough' and this is holding true in my experience, some degree of emotional relief ALWAYS occurs for me within the 15 mins .
6) I'm really grateful for this understanding - the goal of the meditation (or any Hicks practice) is emotional relief, however slight
I love finishing each sit knowing mission accomplished
7) For me listening to the sound of ringing in my ears is the easiest and most reliable method of meditation. Probably because it's not possible to manipulate it like you can with breathing. Also there's something natural feeling about aligning with something your listening to - we're so used to listening to people (or the mind) chatter and have some emotional matching take place with what your listening to
8) What am I following for guidance? My mind or emotional relief?
When I am meditating regularly and therefore regularly experiencing that little bit of emotional relief, it's easy to see how this creates an unfolding path in my thinking and action that's guided by emotional relief (and better things to come!). When I drift away from meditation I can tell that the habits of my mind increasingly become the 'guidance'
9) Meditation and abundance
I'm self employed and this year I have noticed 2 periods where my income just seems to jump up from 'getting by' to 'doing well!'
Both of these periods came hot off the heels of regular meditation ( 3 or 4 times a day ). Extra inspiration to keep this up
10) To quote Abraham ' the better it feels, the more I want to do it, the more I do it, the better it feels)
I love it when I'm meditating regularly and a positive expectation builds up of looking forward to the next little segment of relief in the next meditation.
have I made my point?
And ideally each day for the next 30 days I'll post to confirm I'm keeping to it.
All the best!
Andy

Re: Meditation 30 day challenge
Sounds great Andy!
I'm on board for a 30 day meditation challenge!
I think it's a good tool in the box for raising vibration, and I could really do with some vibe raising at the moment - so let's do this!
-
MY GOAL: 15 minutes meditation a day for 30 days.
MY STARTING VIBRATIONAL DISK: Neutral with regular dips into Fear, Worry and occasional peaks into Appreciation, Flow and Inspiration. It would be nice to stabilize it at a higher general point, experiencing more peaks and fewer troughs : )
INTENTION: To raise my vibration
TYPE OF MEDITATION: Passive or Active Meditation - I'll go with where the inspiration takes me
-
Day 1:
MOOD PRE-MEDITATION: 5/10
I was inspired to do a part no-thought meditation (focusing on the breaths), part "positive affirmation" meditation where every so often if I feel a thought coming in, I replace it with a positive affirmation like:
- I am intending on raising my vibration
- All is well
- I am intending perfect relaxation
- I am intending to release anything that needs to be released (imagining a release on the out-breath)
- As I relax I am allowing wellness, wellbeing, and the contents of my Vortex to flow to me
Throughout the meditation I felt a tiny bit antsy but the meditation seemed to be helping to soothe a little.
Towards the end of the meditation I felt a little lighter and brighter
MOOD IMMEDIATELY POST-MEDITATION: 7/10
About 5 minutes after the meditation I felt my vibration return to its pre-meditation lower set-point
But later on in the day after the meditation, I noticed I was more aware of my thoughts than usual, and was pivoting them more positively. I also noticed more positive-feeling songs were popping into my head than they have been lately, which to me is a sign of my vibration raising. So... it's only day 1, but so far so good!
Day 1 complete!
30 day grid: (in a Christmasy colour scheme as it is December )
That's so encouraging!some degree of emotional relief ALWAYS occurs for me within the 15 mins

Welcome aboard Cookie!I'm on board for a 30 day meditation challenge!

I'm glad you're feeling benefit already. I will now give you a hard time
Abraham defines meditation as the quieting of your mind by giving undivided attention as best you can to your chosen meditation object.
If you are getting into monitoring thoughts, amending them etc. or doing anything other than taking your attention back to your meditation object then it's not meditation.
With regards to your meditation object - you said ' go where the inspiration takes me ' , it's very easy to confuse a busy mind throwing impulses at you with inspiration. So my challenge to you is to sit upright, pick one object ( I think ambient sound // ringing in the ears is easiest ) and keep going back to it for the 15mins.

Day 2: Already feeling great benefit from this thread. I did the three meditations yesterday and I know that I wouldn't have if not for setting up this challenge. There's been many times where I've found myself thinking about what's best to do today in terms of feeling a bit better and then because of this challenge it's like 'oh I haven't done my three sits yet! they're top priority and when I've done those I can wonder about other things'. I'm finding already that the regular sitting is greatly increasing my feeling of clarity. Good stuff

This is true! They do love their air conditioning sounds / tap dripping sound meditation recommendations!abrahammer117 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 9:39 am Abraham defines meditation as the quieting of your mind by giving undivided attention as best you can to your chosen meditation object.
While many classic views of meditation are strict about "meditation = no thought", other teachers suggest meditation can be something other than this.abrahammer117 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 9:39 am If you are getting into monitoring thoughts, amending them etc. or doing anything other than taking your attention back to your meditation object then it's not meditation.
While this is outside the realm of Abraham's teachings, when reading about the Silva Method I learned there are 2 types of meditation:
1. Passive Meditation (this is the type Abraham suggest)
2. Active (or Dynamic) Meditation
I have experimented with both Passive and Active meditations.
I find that the passive kind is useful when I'm in a very negative state and cannot create anything positive in my mind at all that I can feel and believe (eg a thought like "all is well" feels annoying / not true, so it's not helpful), so "no thought" is better than any thought I have access to creating.
When I'm in a better state of mind, I personally find that focusing on a feel-good thought that I believe and feel aligned with (eg "all is well" / "I am allowing wellbeing to flow to me" etc) feels better to me, more soothing, more uplifting, than focusing only on no-thought. I like to go with whatever method feels better for me : )
The Active Meditation is quite a broad field, and can also include focusing on mantras, focusing on feel-good images in your mind, breathing in something positive (eg Love) and breathing out anything that needs to be released, or doing feel-good visualizations.
In active meditation, it involves a disciplined mind that doesn't just wander any which way that an unaware busy mind's impulses can take you, (which may take you down feel-bad. unhelpful or mundane roads like what you're going to make for dinner). It involves intense awareness, and focused, deliberate thought only in the direction which helps you feels good or better, and helps you to align.

Re: Meditation 30 day challenge
Day 2:
MOOD PRE-MEDITATION: 5/10 (some frustration and resistance active)
MOOD DURING MEDITATION:
Soothing words to soothe the frustrations and release the resistance & a focused visualization on "Expanding my aura of Love and Light to envelope the world" helped improve the feeling up to 9/10
MOOD IMMEDIATELY POST-MEDITATION: 7/10

Re: Meditation 30 day challenge
Day 3:
MOOD PRE-MEDITATION: 7/10 (but physically, with heartburn burning pretty intense)
MOOD DURING MEDITATION:
blank - neutral - I mostly did a no-thought-listening-to-ambient-sounds Abraham style meditation today.
I noticed the burning started to subside and fade quite a lot towards the last few minutes of the meditation which was a really nice, welcome surprise
MOOD IMMEDIATELY POST-MEDITATION: 7/10
MOOD CHECK-IN 3 HOURS AFTER MEDITATION: 8/10 (and feeling pretty good physically too since the meditation!)
And I have the happy songs popping into my head as an indicator of an improved mood too
Tonight on the SC Jukebox of happy songs in my head are:
- Anu Nipagesh
- Glenn Miller - In The Mood
- Bee Gees - Stayin' Alive (watching the music video - wow I'd forgotten what a good dancer John Travolta was! He can mooove! )
I'm looking forward to discovering more indicators of a raised vibration as the challenge goes on
UPDATE: Overnight I discovered another indicator of vibration: Dreams.
Let's just say based on my dream last night which indicated the discs of fear and unwanted things, it's good I'm doing this vibration-raising 30 day challenge!
